Martino Fortunati at Advanced Battery Power 2026

Münster, Germany - 14 & 16 April 2026

At the Advanced Battery Power conference in Münster (14–16 April), Martino Fortunati, researcher at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano, presented an AutoMat study on how ageing affects the thermo-physical properties of lithium-ion cells. The team combined controlled heating protocols with Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) optical sensors to measure internal temperature without compromising cell operability.

Masmec’s Technology: Towards Installation at Snam

Modugno, Italy - June 2026

In June, Masmec and Snam met following the achievement of a concrete project milestone: a technology now ready for real industrial application. Masmec developed the discharging platform, while Snam — a recycling plant — will host it. During the meeting at Masmec's premises, Snam's team attended a training session and the next steps for transfer and installation were defined. The installation phase will begin this autumn.

AutoMat 5th General Assembly

AutoMat 5th General Assembly

Next stop for the AutoMat consortium: Viviez, France, where Snam will host the project's 5th General Assembly on 18 and 19 November.

Now at month 35, the project enters a phase where outcomes are taking concrete shape and partner collaboration keeps deepening — making this gathering a key opportunity to align on what's ahead.
