First Review Meeting Marks the Midterm Milestone for AutoMat
Bari, Italy - 22 & 23 September 2025
On 22–23 September 2025, at the headquarters of Masmec in Modugno (Bari), the AutoMat project reached a key milestone with its first Review Meeting, officially marking the halfway point of the project. Unlike previous General Assemblies, which mainly served as internal alignment moments for partners to coordinate activities and objectives, the Review Meeting represented a formal evaluation before the European Commission. During the event, the consortium presented the progress achieved so far and the overall project performance was assessed, while also receiving valuable suggestions and feedback from the European representatives.
AutoMat Showcased at the JRC/HaDEA Technical Workshop in Brussels

ERP Italia Servizi recently took part in the JRC/HaDEA Technical Workshop “Leveraging Raw Materials to Strengthen EU Competitiveness: from Research to Innovation”, held on 23–24 September 2025 in Brussels at the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).

Politecnico di Milano Presents New Results at the ECS Fall Meeting in Chicago

The Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano took part in the 284th ECS Fall Meeting in Chicago, presenting two scientific contributions supported by the European project AutoMat: a conference speech and a poster focused on the effects of ageing on the performance of lithium-ion batteries.
AutoMat at the RENOVATE Workshop: Innovation and Synergy for Battery Recycling in Lombardy
Milan, Italy - 23 October 2025
On 23 October 2025, the Aula Magna of Politecnico di Milano hosted the public workshop “Battery Recycling in Lombardy: It Matters More Than You Think”, organised within the European RENOVATE project. This was a key event that saw AutoMat as a leading protagonist among the EU-funded projects presented, consolidating its role in the Lombardy innovation ecosystem dedicated to battery recycling.
The event saw significant participation from AutoMat partners: ERP Italia Servizi, University of Pavia, FAAM, Politecnico di Milano and Balance were present to represent the strength and multidisciplinary nature of the consortium, demonstrating AutoMat’s concrete commitment to building an active dialogue with the territory and other stakeholders in the battery recycling ecosystem.

Research from Politecnico di Milano Advances Lithium-Ion Battery Diagnostics at ABAA-16
Padova, Italy - From 3 to 5 November 2025
The 16th International Conference on Advanced Lithium Batteries for Automotive Applications (ABAA-16) was held in Padova, Italy, from 3 to 5 November 2025, at the Padova Congress Center. ABAA aims to accelerate scientific progress, foster international collaboration and strengthen the dialogue between academia, industry and policymakers to address key challenges in energy storage for transportation. The conference brought together world-renowned scientists, leading automotive manufacturers and major players from the battery industry to discuss cutting-edge topics, including next-generation materials, safety and degradation mechanisms, and emerging battery chemistries beyond lithium-ion.

AutoMat Presented at Circubat 2025
Bern, Switzerland - 13 & 14 November 2025
AutoMat was presented at the Circubat 2025 final conference, held in Bern, Switzerland. The event focused on the development of a circular economy for lithium-ion batteries, exploring technical and scientific solutions to extend their lifespan, facilitate recycling and reduce environmental impact.
What’s coming next

AutoMat at Key 2026 – The Energy Transition Expo
From 4 to 6 March 2026, Key Energy — one of Europe’s leading trade fairs dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency — will host a significant milestone for the AutoMat project. ERP Italia will organise a shared stand at Rimini Fiera that will bring together three projects: AutoMat, BATMASS and Renovate.

AutoMat 4th General Assembly
On 18 and 19 March, the General Assembly of the AutoMat project will take place, hosted by FAAM at their premises in Teverola (CE). The event will bring the entire consortium together at a crucial moment in the project’s journey: month 27, a phase in which the results achieved will become increasingly tangible and collaboration among partners will continue to grow stronger.
